Anthony Bourdain

Remembering someone whose shows and writing I loved on life, travel, food and people. Seemed to have the greatest job traveling all over the world, meeting people, eating food and sharing stories that he brought into our living rooms yet somehow was not happy enough that he took his own life suddenly a year ago. A lesson to be learned for us to recognize anxiety, depression and possibly alcoholism in people around us. We miss you Tony. These were some of my favorite quotes from him………

“I don’t have to agree with you to like you or respect you.”

“To be treated well in places where you don’t expect to be treated well, to find things in common with people you thought previously you had very, very little in common with, that can’t be a bad thing.”

“Travel changes you. As you move through this life and this world you change things slightly, you leave marks behind, however small. And in return, life—and travel—leaves marks on you.”

“Travel is about the gorgeous feeling of teetering in the unknown.”

“You learn a lot about someone when you share a meal together.”

“Food is everything we are. It’s an extension of nationalist feeling, ethnic feeling, your personal history, your province, your region, your tribe, your grandma. It’s inseparable from those from the get-go.”
